Configure and (Re)connect SMB share

  • Hi,

I am configuring my new DXP2800 right now, copying data from OneDrive to the NASync.

I'd like to ask a quetion about configuring SMB shares first:

    1. My wife and I like to have separate home folders (shares) but we like to have access to both our shares.
So I have configured 2 Shared Maps instead of 2 Personal Maps, I configured R/W access to both users.
In addition I configured some Shared Maps for Music, Video and the like.

Question: Is this the right approach?

Having configured the above I ran into some problems reconnecting the shares:

    2. When connecting SMB shares to my Windows 11 Home computer I was able to connect 1 share with the command NET USE M: \\nas.local\share1 /User:xxxx
When connecting a 2nd share I got the error that only 1 connection could be made with this credentials.

Instead I connected the 2nd share with the command NET USE M: \\nas.local\share2 (so without the username), and this was ok.

Question: Am I doing the right thing?

    3. After a reboot of the Windows PC I still see the connected shares in Explorer and with de NET USE command, however I am not able to open the shares:
    Error reconnectiong V: and \\nas.local\share1

Question: How come that the share is connected but I cannot open it?

    Any help highly appreciated.

  • I got no answer yet from this community but I have found something what looks to me as an odd solution but it works.

On Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/com…ce-legacy-sct=1) I found a thread where enabling NFS was recommended. Yes we are talking about SMB...

After enabling NFS on the NASync I got the shares working after a reboot of the client.

    Has anyone thoughts about this?
