Hello nubbie61
welcome in our community!
HDDs are plug and play, so they should be recognized automatically by UGOS Pro.
Did you do it this way?
1. Turn off the NAS.
2. Insert the HDDs.
3. Turn on the NAS and log in.
4. You should now be able to see all HDDs under Storage > Hard Drives.
Hi Willi. Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, I have done all that - no luck. It's the BIOS that's not recognizing the disk, not the UGOS. It says EMPTY for each of the slots with HC520... Any chance for an upgraded BIOS? Or should I purchase 6 new drives? I know HC520 is NOT in the compatibility list, but hey - it's Ultrastar, top of the line. My question here to this forum is if anybody else has got the same problem? Or has anybody else running HC520 on 6800pro.
Thanks for all of your time
Hello nubbie61
Before you buy new HDDs, I would first open a ticket with Ugreen. Technical support may have a solution. I have a DXP6800 Pro myself, but I use Seagate HDDs. Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this behavior. You can find the relevant links to Ugreen in my signature.
Best regards, Willi
Just to be sure, they are S-ATA HDDs, not SAS? (if the connector even fits into the port).

I have already checked that....

I found this but stopped reading after caption („…and SAS“). 😜
Hmm... The model may be available as both a SATA and SAS HDD.
That would explain the behavior, of course. Can you check that nubbie61 ?
VG Willi
Thanks to all of you, people. It's SATA but here's a photo of the drive for just in case.
As a last resort before going for new drives I'm going to check one of them to a separate PC and will report back the result here.
For completeness, so that this message is also available in the thread. This was sent by email by nubbie61

Bei mir laufen 4x HC590 26TB im Raid 5 problemlos, wurden sofort problemlos erkannt.
Translated: I have 4x HC590 26TB running in Raid 5 without any problems; they were recognized immediately without any issues.
Well, the mystery finally got resolved. It's the disk itself - DOA. Not recognized on a normal PC with good BIOS. Removed another disk from the working NAS (DS918+) and it was 100% OK in BIOS. Going to the vendor to swap it for a working one.... Shame, I wasted so much of your time, sorry.
Thanks once again for all the help. A very helpful resource.
