Test Failed Installation location not detected

  • Hi,

I have DXP4800 , Truenas was installed in Jan/Feb by IT staff member at another branch, they have since left and I wish to go back to ugos.

    I removed all hard drives.

Contacted support and was given link to download iso - UGOSPRO-USB-1.0.1.4-2628-release.iso

Write it to usb , boot and see lots of scrolling text until I get to bash screen, enter ip a to get ip and open in browser and follow instructions but get to to a test screen and it says test failed.

  • Hi and welcome!

Unfortunately, you’ll need to reach out to UGREEN support for this.
It’s best to reference the ticket you received with the UGOS download. The operating system can only be installed once and is tied to the device’s serial number, so only support can resolve this for you.

  • Maybe they (IT staff) disabled internal emmc disk in BIOS so you have to enable internal drive.

Oh, that’s a very good point, I hadn’t considered that!

  • Checked Bios and all looks good, loaded Optimized defaults.

Reading up I'm told my partitions are gone.

Will try a live linux cd and see what fdisk -l shows, although I'm not sure what it is supposed to show, what would layout be?

Does os boot from M.2 NVME slot?

Because device had only 2x 4TB WD 3.5 in it, was Unraid running off usb stick.

Fudge - booted with Linux live cd - fdisk -l

Only shows the usb as /dev/sda

I don't see anything else, is it possible to install ugos on an nvme or hard drive?

  • I had the same trouble before, the eMMC wasn't visible in BIOS initially, and with the first ISO the support provided I ran on the same error.
Opened a ticket and first the support asked me to collect further logs using http://<nas_ip_address>:9999/ugreen/v1/upgrader/debug/log

Once I gave them the logs they updated the ISO, which has fixed my installation.

  • I accidentally deleted my eMMC. It was no longer possible to boot up. The eMMC was also no longer available in the BIOS, I have been completely excluded.

With the re-flash (UGOS ISO), both the eMMC was selectable again in the BIOS and all drives were available.
